Day 1: Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom
Morning:
We’ll begin the workshop with vine-choked Ta Prohm, where you’ll experiment with the interplay between light and shadow to make stunning images of this mysterious temple. We’ll also have time for a less-visited smaller temple, or one or two monasteries where we may have the chance to witness the morning activities of Buddhist monks.
Afternoon :
After a break for lunch, we resume the day’s activities with an afternoon at Angkor Thom. The summer months are famed for the quality of light found here in late afternoon, as the fading golden light casts onto the face of the temple.
Day 2: Sunrise in Angkor Wat and Preah Khan
Morning:
After taking in one of Cambodia’s most iconic sites, the sun rising over the towers of Angkor Wat, we’ll spend the most beautiful hours of morning light in the underrated Preah Khan and other surrounding, quiet temples. Sprawling and mysterious, we think Preah Khan is one of the true highlights of Angkor, and is often overlooked by casual visitors. We’ll show you the very best hidden gems in this maze-like temple.

Day 1: Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat
Morning:
We’ll begin the workshop with Ta Prohm, home to some of Angkor’s most monstrous trees. Here we’ll work on capturing images in complex but beautiful lighting situations, emphasising the relationship between light and shadow. We’ll also squeeze in a quiet, smaller temple, or one or two monasteries where we may have the chance to interact with novice monks.
Afternoon :
After a break for lunch, we resume the day’s activities with an afternoon at Angkor Wat. The summer months in Siem Reap are famed for moody skies; we’ll focus on capturing this incredible temple, lit up in the day’s last light.
Day 2: Preah Khan and Tonlé Sap Lake
Morning:
Our morning begins with the maze-like temple of Preah Khan. Why this one is not so popular with international tourists we can never understand. We’ll show you the best-kept secrets of this sprawling temple before taking in some of the other quiet temples in the surrounding area.
Afternoon :
We venture out of Siem Reap for the famed “City on Stilts” at Kampong Phluk. Here you’ll find a small village propped up on wooden stilts above a tributary of the Tonlé Sap Lake. The street scenes that can be captured here are like nowhere else; we’ll take our time here to photograph this otherworldly spot.
Day 3: Sunrise at Angkor Wat, Local Market, and Angkor Thom
Morning:
After taking in one of Cambodia’s most iconic sites, the sun rising over the towers of Angkor Wat, we’ll recharge with a quick breakfast and coffee before heading to a sprawling local market to practice our street photography. Full of life and with a variety of lighting conditions in which to practice, the market presents a host of photographic opportunities.
Afternoon :
We call in at the supreme and the secret within the walled city of Angkor Thom, taking in Bayon, as well as some little-known spots dotted around the forest in this part of the Park. We’ll also have time to take in a monastery within Angkor itself.
Day 4: Free Image Review Session
For those who will spend their morning in Siem Reap, we invite you to a free image review and post-processing workshop. We’ll review and discuss the images captured during the workshop, and help inspire you with new ideas and concepts to try in your next adventure.

Day 1: Local Market and Floating Village
Morning:
We kick off the workshop with a visit to one of Siem Reap Town’s most bustling wet markets, where we have endless opportunity to practice street photography and experiment with many different kinds of light. We’ll also call in at a nearby Buddhist monastery where we may have the chance to observe Buddhist novices going about their daily duties in the temple.
Afternoon :
The second half of the day will be spent on the glassy waters of the Tonlé Sap Lake, where we’ll take a boat out to one of the many unique floating villages found here. You’ll have the chance to see and photograph an entirely different way of life on the water.
Day 2: Kulen National Park and Night Market
Our second day is spent at the rainforest National Park and towering waterfall of Mt. Kulen. Here we can practice our landscape photography, as well as learn the finer points of capturing incredible, long-exposure images of the powerful falls. We’ll also have the opportunity to call in at one of Cambodia’s most sacred pagodas in Preah Ang Thom to photograph the giant reclining Buddha and religious activity around the grounds of the monastery.
After a quick, optional swim, we’ll call in at a night market on our drive back to Siem Reap where we can photograph the sunset and practice street photography in low-light conditions.
Day 3: Countryside and “City on Stilts”
Morning:
We’ll venture into the lush, green countryside of Siem Reap where we have the opportunity to photograph a range of farming activities in the rice-paddies, as well as step into the homes of a few people well-known to us.
Afternoon :
We discover a second, altogether different village on the Tonlé Sap Lake, this time hovering above the water on a network of stilts. We’ll have the chance to walk in the streets here, engage with local people, and capture the truly unique living arrangements found at this “City on Stilts”.
Day 4: Free Image Review Session
For those who will spend their morning in Siem Reap, we invite you to a free image review and post-processing workshop. We’ll review and discuss the images captured during the workshop, and help inspire you with new ideas and concepts to try in your next adventure.
